OUR FIRST 30 YEARS
Over the past
thirty years the League of Placer County Taxpayers can look back on a
formidable list of actions and accomplishments to the public benefit. The list
of accomplishments reflects hundreds of
hours of volunteer effort, time and expertise by the board and members of the
League.
Our tasks have
been aided by the members who represent all walks of life, everyday citizens,
men and women.
In our early
years, we were met with hostility and criticism by many public officials, but
as time and our accomplishments progressed, the League has become an asset, a
sounding board of public interest and opinion.
In recent years
we have led the county government and some cities toward more efficient
delivery of public services and new ways of attacking problems. Of course, we
have our critics, but we have shed the light of public scrutiny into some
obscure corners of government, both local and state. In these neglected areas
oftentimes are found mismanagement of resources.
The League's
Board
is entirely volunteer and unpaid. Our objective is good efficient government
with minimum interference in our personal lives and property. We are a
nonprofit, tax exempt organization acting to protect and educate the public on
government actions.
